A 40-year-old male, known case of type I diabetes but poorly compliant with medications, presents to the ER with a 3-day history of left facial pain, proptosis, purplish discoloration of the periorbital area, and hemorrhagic exudates from the nose. Do you suspect a fungal infection? What will a biopsy of the infected tissue reveal?
